A native of the San Francisco Bay Area, Arwen Spicer has a Ph.D. in English literature from the University of Oregon and a B.S. in biology from Humboldt State University. She is the founder of StarMerrow, a speculative fiction community for writers and artists interested in "grassroots" approaches to producing and marketing their work. Her self-published ecological science fiction novel, Perdita, is available through StarMerrow.
